Whilst the amount of in game Japanese text for 'Ashguine Story II: Citadel in the Void' may be limited and not detrimental to gameplay, a fan translation has been released for this MSX2 hidden gem.
Ashguine Story 2 was released in 1987 by T&E Soft and was the second release in the Ashguine trilogy. The games play out like a blend between a vertical scrolling shooter and the arcade classic Gauntlet with a mix of RPG elements- leaving you to hack away at anything that crosses your path whilst dodging various enemy fire. Although the game is not too well known, the MSX communities quite rightly rate this sleeper hit rather highly.
The fan translation put together by msx.translations is now available to download, bringing this MSX classic over to English speaking audiences. From what we are aware of only the game's intro features Japanese text (the ending might do too), nevertheless we can now enjoy Ashguine Story 2 as if it was released in the West.
