More Development Progress On PSIO - Sony PlayStation SD Card ISO Loading Adapter

PSIO-PlayStation-1-SD-Card-ISO-LoaderSince our last article on the upcoming Sony PlayStation 1 SD card adapter, the team at PSIO seem to have made some promising progress. As of recent a handful of videos have been released online showing the device running multiple games such as Crash Bandicoot 3, Klonoa, Diablo and Need For Speed. All we need now is a release date!

Excitement aside, there is still plenty more work to be done on this ISO loading solution. Keen eyed viewers, or shall we say listeners, will notice that in the PSIO Team's latest YouTube video, the CD audio within the demonstrated games is currently missing. The team have since stated that CD audio will be implemented in the near future, once other aspects of their development has been finished.

Also arriving since PSIO's last update in May is the addition of work in progress screens showing how the game loading menu will work. Going by the pictures shared on the PSIO's worklog thread, the device seems capable of letting you choose from a selection of PlayStation 1 ISOs from a the SD card in alphabetical order, on a menu that looks awfully similar to the PlayStation 3's XMB.

Me too, as nice as PS1 emulation may be, I'm sure everyone here understands the value of playing on the real hardware.
