The Golden Age of arcade gaming returns once again- a disc-based collection with 31 of Midway's finest, Midway Arcade Origins, will be heading to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 before the end of the year in the US.
Developed by Backbone Entertainment, Midway Arcade Origins will bring together 31 classic arcade games from Midway, Williams and Atari Games, with added achievements/trophies and online leaderboards, but no online multiplayer. The full list of games, given below, is mostly a combination of games from Backbone's Midway Arcade Treasures 1 & 2 sets from the previous console generation (developed when they were still called Digital Eclipse) with Super Off-Road from the third in the series being thrown in as well. It's a nice selection with plenty of variety and a few less famous games (A.P.B. and Satan's Hollow in particular) with one game- Vindicators Part II- having never been ported to any other home console. Midway Arcade Origins will include:
- 720°
- A.P.B.
- Arch Rivals
- Bubbles
- Championship Sprint
- Tournament Cyberball 2072
- Defender
- Defender II
- Gauntlet
