[April Fools] Michael Jackson Cameo Discovered In Sonic & Knuckles

Moonwalker-plugged-into-Sonic-and-KnucklesOver the last few years it's become widely believed that Michael Jackson helped sculpt the soundtrack for Sonic The Hedgehog 3. Although it's suggested that the pop star was unhappy with the Mega Drive's soundchip and parted ways with Sega, it would appear other plans were in development at the time such as a cameo appearance from MJ himself in Sonic & Knuckles.

Given that Michael Jackson had already made an appearance on Sega's 16-bit system in Moonwalker, his venture into another game on the same system doesn't seem so far-fetched after all. According to the recently opened Twitter account known as Sonic Secrets, their début tweet went on to detail their latest discovery of Michael Jackson's appearance in Sonic & Knuckles and how to access it.

To try this long lost secret yourself, you'll need a Sonic & Knuckles cartridge with Michael Jackson's Moonwalker bolted in. Simply power up the Mega Drive / Genesis as you would do normally, however, make sure there is a control pad plugged into port 2 with the buttons A B and C held down. If done correctly, you'll be greeted with something like this...

Sonic-and-Moonwalker

Expect more updates on this unusual discovery shortly, along with a gameplay video uploaded to our official channel. In the meantime we'll be moonwalking through Mushroom Hill Zone.
