Mattel Teams Up With Nintendo To Release ‘Super Mario Bros 30th Anniversary’ Hot Wheels Cars

Super-Mario-Bros-30th-Hot-WheelsAs if we needed any more reason to celebrate the upcoming 30th birthday of Super Mario Bros… Hot Wheels manufacturer Mattel has recently revealed that they’ve teamed up with Nintendo to release limited edition toy cars - each of which sporting a design from a classic Mario game of yesteryear.

Starting out with the 1985 original is a Dairy Delivery van dressed up with visuals from Super Mario Bros. Elsewhere the range offers an awesome Volkswagen Camper Van painted with Super Mario World artwork, a stylised Dr Mario saloon, and best of a condensed and cute Super Mario Bros 3 School Bus.

Supposedly due to go on sale this October during Nintendo’s celebrations, these will no doubt be snapped up by collectors pretty fast. We do have to wonder though as to why the Super Mario Kart one doesn’t offer a 150cc style go kart with the Italian plumber pushing the pedal.

For some reason, I really like seeing Hot Wheels and other similar toy cars with gaming logos/designs on them, so I'll definitely be on the lookout for these come their release.

Wow, am I the only one who thinks this is a dumb idea? Then again I'm not into toy cars... When I read the article name I began to think maybe the old Nintendo Trophies were coming back... then I kept reading. Oh well.

These are generally around $4- $5 US. As a retro- gamer and Hot Wheels enthusiast, I find this news exciting.
