While Sonic and Mario might have skipped past the home computer generation, countless other developers attempted to recreate what made console gaming so alluring in their own way. Their tireless efforts brought around the likes of Zool, The Great Giana Sisters, and Mayhem In Monsterland to name but a few, however, the desire to produce a true rival to the console mascots continues even today. Commodore 64 developers Knights of Bytes recently returned online to showcase the latest trailer for their upcoming release, Sam’s Journey.
Having originally started development in early 2015, Sam’s Journey has very much been the main focus of Commodore 64 gamers since its announcement. With world maps similar to Super Mario Bros 3, barrels to blast your around Donkey Kong Country style, and a range of abilities to give Kid Chameleon a run for his money, it’s safe to say the last two years have been busy for Knights of Bytes.
Although the new trailer will leave many eagerly anticipating the game’s launch, Knights of Bytes are still yet to confirm a release date for Sam’s Journey. In the meantime, here’s another gameplay trailer showcasing the power within the Commodore 64.
