Fan Translation of Nushi Tsuri Adventure: Kite no Bouken released

Nushi-Tsuri-Adventure-Kite-no-Bouken-Gameboy-Color-Fan-TranslationAnother hidden gem for the Nintendo Gameboy Color has been lucky enough to get a fan translation by a talented group of ROM hackers. Kite's Adventure is a spin off from the Legend of the River King series, mixing the classic RPG genre with fishing.

If the Legend of the River King is not sounding too familiar, there are two Gameboy Color games and a (renamed to Harvest Fishing) Sony Playstation 2 game in the series that were lucky enough to be brought to Europe and Australia. However the series started life much earlier on the Nintendo Famicom, seeing release across a wide range of systems throughout the years.

The series is a cross between Harvest Moon and Final Fantasy / Dragon Quest. The first game finds the protagonist setting off on a quest to find a legendary fish, said to cure a life threatening illness his sister is suffering from. But like any quest, there will be plenty of obstacles in true RPG style.

Sadly the series did not receive the popularity it truly deserved once it did arrive outside of Japan. This left the remaining games untranslated and locked up from the real fans of the series. Two fans that weren't too pleased with this outcome, began to translate one of the spin-offs from the series; Nushi Tsuri Adventure: Kite no Bouken, or simply Kite's Adventure. This game in the series followed a much more story driven RPG approach than before, incorporating the traditional RPG parties and battles previously unseen in Legend of the River King.

The patch to translate the Japanese ROM file can be downloaded from the translators website, but it comes with a quick bit of advice to take note of. The patched ROM struggles in the VisualBoy Advance emulator, but has been reported working in NO$GMB and BGB.
