Kings Quest III Redux - KQ3 Remake Released Today

AGDInteractive who own the legal rights to re-create Sierra classics from the 1990s have returned. Their latest remake of Kings Quest III features updated audio and visuals, but best of all is free to download now.

Those of you who are familiar with the original Kings Quest III will remember the hard blocky visuals, cheap deaths and frustrating text input system. AGDInteractive have opted to move away from this by offering a rich point and click interface Lucasarts fans will be more familiar with.

The remake follows on from their release of Kings Quest II Redux, another highly acclaimed release from the team back in 2008. If there is anything that needs mentioning, it's their attention to detail and desire to accurately reproduce the originals as close as possible. To commemorate their talent, a full sized 23" tall poster of original artwork by Eriq Chang can be purchased from their site.

So should you be in need of another adventure to pass the time, head on over to the official website now to download Kings Quest III Redux.

I've just downloaded this and had a tickle. It's right up my street and I'm amazed that it's being offered as a freebie. Just had my first cheap death - the wizard suddenly materialised and zapped me for rummaging through his wardrobe. His loss, he can chuck his own shit out of the window in future. I can see that this is going to be one of those games where frequent saves are essential!

Only slight gripe on the game are the pauses in between scenes - not that bad though.
