Kickstarter 'The Tetris Challenge' Documentary Aims To Find The Greatest Block Buster In The UK

The-Tetris-Challenge-KickstarterWe've all played Tetris until our thumbs hurt, but how many of us have what it takes to be crowned a line-clearing-champion? One couple's recent purchase of an original Game Boy and the 1989 puzzle has spurred them on to document their quest to find the greatest gamer in the country, one capable of topping the Twin Galaxies leaderboard.

Having recently watched the fantastic documentary The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters - a film following one gamer around on his quest to set a new world record on Donkey Kong - Liverpool based Helen Stephens decided it was about time someone gifted Tetris a similar outing. With her partner laying claim to racking up over 200 lines during standard play previously, a score supposedly worthy of fourth place on Twin Galaxies' Tetris leaderboard, the duo are determined to climb right to the top whilst filming the whole ordeal.

Turning to Kickstarter to help fund this promising idea, Stephens' is hoping to raise enough funds to document her other half making an attempt to smash any existing records, whilst also organising UK based tournament to find equally as talented competitors. The fundraiser is hoping to raise £30,000 to cover costs, with the aim of providing the film on DVD shortly after.

Gamers wanting to take part in this regional Tetris showdown have the chance to pledge £40 to enter the tournament, while those just wanting to watch the action need only donate £5 to the cause.
