Japanese Super Nintendo Exclusive ‘The Amazing Spider-Man: Lethal Foes’ Fan Translated Into English

Spider-Man-Lethal-Foes-Super-Nintendo-Fan-TranslationWhen it comes to superhero games in the 16-bit era, despite there being an incredible amount available, only a select few are worth playing today. Spider-Man in particular fell victim to Acclaim’s low quality output during this time, however, one game managed to escape the web of disappointment. Developed instead by Epoch, The Amazing Spider-Man: Lethal Foes was released exclusively in Japan on the Super Nintendo and has since been fan translated into English.

This unlocalised 1995 title puts the likes of Maximum Carnage, Separation Anxiety and Spider-Man X-Men: Arcade's Revenge to shame for a number of reasons. Not only does the game look fantastic and stylised as if from the pages of a Spider-Man issue, but the game itself features impressive web physics and wall scaling abilities, along with a great hybrid between being a platformer and scrolling fighter.

While the game may have sadly skipped out on a worldwide release, fan translators have since hacked the game’s ROM apart to provide an English language version to all. Those interested in sampling this Japanese exclusive will need to have a legally obtained The Amazing Spider-Man: Lethal Foes Super Famicom ROM to hand, to which the fan translation patch can be applied to. Full instructions can be found within the translation patch download.
