Famicom Exclusive 'Legend Of The River King' Fan Translated

Famicom-Exclusive-Legend-Of-The-River-King-Fan-TranslatedIn 1990 Natsume took a bold move in the video game world by crossing the streams between fishing and role playing games with Legend of the River King. While it wouldn't be another eight years until Western audiences could dive into the deep end of this unusual mix, fans of this hybrid adventure can finally enjoy the original title in English.

If you're yet to cast your line into this unusual series, you'd be foolish to dismiss it too quickly. The more familiar Game Boy outing of the Legend Of The River King (also known as Kawa no Nushi Tsuri in Japan) puts you in control of a young adventurer set with the task of catching the legendary Guardian fish, one which will supposedly cure his ill sister. Like most role playing games though, this quest is no easy one due to the countless creatures looking for a fight in between those moments of tranquillity at the riverside.

Although this new fan translation patch for the Nintendo Famicom outing of Legend of the River King has been released, it's worth noting that there is a little bit more work to be done (at the time of writing). Several fish names remain untranslated, along with several of the items and enemies, however, almost all of the gameplay is now accessible to English speaking audiences.

Legend Of The River King (Famicom) Gameplay (Untranslated)

This English translation for Legend of the River King (Famicom) can now be downloaded. Like other ROM hacks and fan translations, to enjoy this fan-made patch you will need to have an original Legend of the RIver King ROM file to which you can apply this patch to. Full instructions on how to patch this ROM can be found within the download, or you can refer to this handy ROM patching guide on YouTube.
