Japanese Exclusive Sega Saturn Fighter ‘Asuka 120% Limit Over’ Fan Translated Into English

Asuka-120-Limit-Over-English-PatchIn 1997 Japanese developers Fill-in-Cafe released another entry into their long running Asuka 120% Burning Fest series on the Sega Saturn known as Asuka 120% Limited. Not too long after the fighting game was hacked apart by fans (or possibly the game's original team) and re-released under the new name Asuka 120% Limit Over - a version which addressed several gameplay issues and balanced out the mechanics within. Although this fan offering remained in Japanese upon release, another group has taken their efforts and translated Asuka 120% Limit Over into English.

For those unfamiliar with the game, this 2D fighter was rather ahead of its time and soon found many of its gameplay features paving way for the likes of Marvel Vs Capcom and Guilty Gear. Although the game looks very similar to the many other fighting games of its era, Asuka 120% Limit Over was the best of the bunch, only to remain a somewhat obscure title due to the Sega Saturn’s market struggles.

This newly released fan translation patch finally fixes all of the in-game menus and dialogue to make the fighter much more accessible. For those wanting to blast their way through this will need to obtain a disc image of the fan-altered Asuka 120% Limit Over, rather than the original Sega Saturn Asuka 120% Limited. Full instructions on how to apply the patch can be found in the download, with further details on the patch itself on the creator’s blog.
