Japanese Exclusive Nintendo NES RPG 'The Legend Of Double Moon' Fan Translated Into English

Legend-Of-Double-Moon-Famicom-Fan-TranslationWith a wealth of RPGs and adventures hitting the Japanese gaming market during Nintendo's heyday, gamers elsewhere around the world were lucky if any of these were then localised for release internationally. While many of the classics eventually made the trip overseas, countless other titles have remained Far East exclusives. In an attempt to make amends, ROM hackers have been releasing fan translation patches over the years to gift English speaking gamers the chance to experience these exclusives. The latest one to be gifted the fan translation treatment is Double Moon Densetsu - a traditional top down JRPG from 1992.

As many of you will know, both Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest created a massive boom in Japanese RPG gaming, with plenty of Nintendo Famicom owners pouring countless hours into these adventures. Needless to say the market was soon flooded with similar releases which drew inspiration from these two, Double Moon Densetsu (also known as The Legend of Double Moon)  being no different.

Developed by NCS and published by Masaya, Double Moon Densetsu sees you taking control of a hero on a quest to find his twin sister captured by evil forces. Featuring a very similar tileset and general look to Enix's Dragon Quest, Double Moon Densetsu was far from shy in sharing similarities, with even the game's menu system looking all too familiar. Nevertheless this fan translation patch provides hours upon hours of adventure for those that love the genre, and those looking to explore another obscure Japanese RPG.

Double Moon Densetsu (Nintendo Famicom) Translated Gameplay

As usual, to enjoy this fan translation patch you will need to have an original Double Moon Densetsu Nintendo Famicom ROM file to which you can apply this patch to. Full instructions on how to patch this ROM can be found within the download, or you can refer to this handy ROM patching guide on YouTube.
