Japanese Exclusive Nintendo Famicom Platformer 'Mappy Kids' Gets Fan Translated Into English

Mappy-Kids-Fan-TranslationWith countless Japanese exclusive video games still out there, fan translators have once again unofficially localised another title many years later. The latest offering is the Nintendo Famicom's very own sequel to the arcade classic Mappy - one where our rodent hero is out to prove a point to his wife.

This 1983 adventure sees Mappy set out to make a point that he is perfectly capable of providing to his loving family. Instead of being set indoors like its arcade counterpart, Mappy Kids sees our now-neglected protagonist take on an entire world, mini-map-style, similar to Super Mario Bros 3.

While it's arguable that the game can be enjoyed without needing to understand any Japanese, ROM hacker Zynk Oxhyde has updated this Famicom platformer's in-game dialogue and story into English - providing the finished product as if it was originally localised worldwide.

Mappy Kids (Famicom) Gameplay

A downloadable English patch for Mappy Kids can now be found at ROMHacking.net. As usual, to enjoy this fan translation patch you will need to have an original Mappy Kids ROM file to which you can apply this patch to. Full instructions on how to patch this ROM can be found within the download, or you can refer to this handy ROM patching guide on YouTube.
