Is Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse Set For A Comeback?

Is-Castle-of-Illusion-Starring-Mickey-Mouse-Set-For-A-ComebackAs of recent the multimedia giant Disney had been spotted filing a trademark for the term 'Castle Of Illusion', inevitably setting off a wave of excited retro gamers. Is the classic Mickey Mouse adventure which graced the Mega Drive, Master System and Game Gear set for a return?

Long before the countless shoddy movie-tie-ins which plagued video game consoles, Disney's joint efforts with Sega produced a selection of unique and enjoyable adventures filled with imagination.

Alongside the likes of Quackshot, Deep Duck Trouble and The Lucky Dime Caper, the 1990 release Castle Of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse was one of the best selling and most renowned platform games around. This quality from Disney continued on for many years, setting a whole new standard for movie-tie-ins to meet with the incredible release- The Lion King.

So, what does this trademark mean for gamers then? Well apart from our speculation and expectations, not too much. We just need to cross our fingers for either a glorious HD remake of the Disney classic or a new adventure in the same vein, while hoping that this is not just a trademark for a Virtual Console release.

Maybe a movie based on the game? I've only ever played the MS version of the title. I'd be interested to see what the MD version is like.

Very interesting article. I would love to see what Disney has in store for this.
