Homebrew 'Rocket Smash EX' Blasts Onto Commodore 64 Cart

Rocket-Smash-EX-Released-on-Commodore-64Remember Ultimate Play The Game's Jet Pac on the ZX Spectrum? It's safe to say that this action packed single-screener was the envy of many Commodore gamers, although several decades on the tables are about to turn. Homebrew developers John Christian Lønningdal & Saul Cross have recreated the classic on the C64 and revamped the 1983 release in Rocket Smash EX - something which is now available on cartridge through retro publisher RGCD.

Originally arriving as an entry in the RGCD C64 Cartridge Development Competition 2013, Rocket Smash sat amongst several other stand-out titles at the time - many of which further boosting the Commodore 64's fantastic homebrew library. Rocket Smash follows in the exact same footsteps of Jet Pac, leaving the player to not only recover and line up scattered pieces of a rocket ship, but also the gallons of fuel needed to power it. With countless intergalactic enemies attempting to intercept your efforts, you're going to need to pilot your rocket propelled spacesuit around space ever so carefully.

Rocket Smash EX is now available to buy through RGCD on cartridge for £25 in standard packaging, or £30 for the deluxe edition. Compatible with both the PAL and NTSC versions of the Commodore 64, along with the C128 and GS too, Rocket Smash EX can also be had as a digital download through the name-your-price service itch.io.

But enough talk about the game. Check out this fantastic addition to the Commodore 64 in action and secure your copy soon.
