Homebrew Arkanoid Clone ‘Retroid’ Bounces Onto Nintendo Game Boy For Free

Retroid-Arkanoid-Clone-For-Game-BoyWhat’s not to love about Breakout and Arkanoid? The simplistic gameplay matched with the growing difficulty of speed and stages makes for some fantastic arcade action. While the Game Boy may already have its own take on the formula with Alleyway, one homebrew developer has decided to take things a step further with their new release Retroid.

Although starting out as a development challenge to see what could be pulled off in a late 80s style, Retroid surprisingly feels like a finished product that could well have hit the shelves decades ago. Offering 20 different levels spanning multiple styles, 6 power up items, and the addition of an Arkanoid style boss battle, it’s safe to say that this is definitely something you’ll want to bounce onto your Nintendo Game Boy.

Available as a downloadable Game Boy ROM, Retroid can either be played on the original hardware using a flash cartridge, or via one of the many emulators out there.
