Homebrew 'Animus XS' In Development For Sega Master System

Animus-XS-Master-SystemWhen looking back at the Master System's catalogue, we often wonder if there ever was a game which really pushed the system to its upper limits? Although several titles do pop to mind, an all new development hailing from France is about to cast these aside and single-handedly prove how powerful Sega's 8-bit console really was.

Although Animus XS is still mere weeks into development, videos of the game's code in action have already gone on to showcase programming techniques and visuals many deemed impossible on the Sega Master System. Assuming control of a giant mech, the game's developer Furrtek has somehow managed to pull of a believable 3D environment through a first-person perspective.

The name Furrtek may sound familiar to some of you out there, especially given this retro gaming mastermind has previously created the Super Neo Geo Pocket, Super Connard and the Nintendo Virtual Boy TV Out Console. Needless to say we believe this Master System homebrew is in good hands and we're eagerly awaiting further development on Animus XS.
