Homebrew Adventure 'The Lost Caves of Kroz' Heading To The Intellivision Soon

Lost-Caves-of-Kroz-IntellivisionFor quite some time now Elektronite have been working on a rather impressive game for the Intellivision - one which appears to push the system to its upper limits. Although no solid release date for this title has been set as of yet, The Lost Caves of Kroz appears to be shaping up rather well following the arrival of new gameplay footage on YouTube.

Featuring incredibly detailed and colourful visuals by Intellivision standards, along with static cutscenes, The Lost Caves of Kroz is a top down puzzle adventure which puts you up against many single-screen mazes - riddled with enemies, traps, keys, and even bosses. Oddly enough, this all new homebrew release for the Mattel Intellivision is licensed by Apogee, the same company which brought us countless shareware classics on the PC several decades ago.

The newly shared gameplay videos on YouTube were recently posted to Elektronite's Facebook page, detailing the developer's fantastic work on this in-progress title. Their most recent update also suggested that the game would eventually be released sometime in Summer this year, leaving Intellivision fans longing for warmer days and longer nights.

Kroz was a series from Apogee, it's Zork backwards, hence the licensing. I used to love these games, they had ASCII character graphics like Rogue but each level was a fixed screen and there was no randomization. Very highly tempted to bag a copy of this for nostalgia's sake, will have to steal someone's kidney first.
