Hidden Exclusive Super Famicom Gem Super Back To The Future II Gets A Fan Translation

Hidden-Super-Famicom-Gem-Super-Back-To-The-Future-II-Gets-A-Fan-TranslationWait, what? There was a Back To The Future game for the SNES!? That's right, the Japanese were lucky enough to get an exclusive game based upon the 1989 American scifi comedy flick. While the game was playable without any Japanese knowledge, fans have kindly streamlined the experience with a translation patch.

Knowing how much kids of the 90s wanted to so badly own the Mattel Hoverboard featured in the film, the game developers decided upon placing Marty McFly on his board for the entire game. While you'd expect the game to fall into the racing genre given the hoverboard addition, Super Back To The Future II is actually a side scrolling platformer. But before we dive back into the game and the fan translation, it's worth pointing out that Mattel have just another 3 years to follow through on the promise of hoverboard technology in 2015...

Back on topic, earlier this month fan translators mteam released a patch for Super Back To The Future II converting the in-game text into Polish. Given they already had the tools at their disposal, the team decided to keep pushing through and deliver an English version of the game for the rest of the world.

As usual, to enjoy this fan translation patch you will need to have an original ROM file of the game in which you can apply this patch to. Full instructions on how to patch this ROM can be found within the download, or you can refer to this handy ROM patching guide on YouTube.

When I first saw the AVGN play this game? I nearly cried. I can't believe this game never came here, until I saw the actual release date of it being 1993. Kind of hard of release a game that people would consider "old" by then. However, this was a shear masterpiece!
