Today marks a very special date in retro gaming history. Exactly one year ago on this eventful day of this cold winter month, RetroCollect officially opened its doors to the horde of classic game fanatics around the world. That’s right, it’s time for us to proudly celebrate our very own first of many e-birthdays!
To think this time last year we had a distant dream of building up a warm community of die hard retro games and collectors, it’s nothing short of amazing to see our very dreams realised in just 365 days. The constant arrival of both registered users and quick curious visits has pushed the team on over the busy year, making sure we’ve continued to deliver the latest retro gaming news, advanced features to the collection tracker, informative discussion within the forum and of course a more humorous approach to retro gaming both via Twitter and Facebook.
But we can’t take all the credit for our first birthday! It’s been a real pleasure seeing the flurry of activity within the community; your impressive game collection photographs, continued conversations on the forum and most importantly the generous and on-going contributions towards the growing game database. For this we thank you with every pixel within our heart containers.
As we head into next year, we’ll be looking forward to the many retro gaming events taking place such as Retrovision and (hopefully... well, it is expected to happen) Replay 2012, where we will once again be able to pass on our thanks in person over a round of Saturn Bomberman.
While we don’t have too much more to ask other than celebrate with us, we hope you’ll all be sticking around for the second year of many in RetroCollect’s history, as we begin to step things up a gear and conquer the retro gaming world as we know it. We’ve got plenty more planned, so as usual expect the latest retro gaming news as soon as it arrives, plenty more release lists and updates to the collection tracker (including US and Japanese imports within the year) and that friendly community spirit you’ve all been building up. Bring on 2012!

It's my RC anniversary tomorrow lol
I've been collecting for many years as many of you will know by now, but I've always been a bit of a private collector until Retro Collect came along and just observed what others had to say from somewhere on the periphary. I have been reading (and joined) other forums for many years, but rarely ever felt inclined to post anything, but Retro Collect is the exception due to your friendliness and the quality of the site. This site is simply the best place for a PAL collector to be and so happy that everyone at Retro Collect had the talents to do it because this site was very much needed IMO.
Many happy returns
Penblwydd hapus!
Or for hydr0x, herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag!
Or just plain old happy birthday!
