Sonic The Hedgehog Fan Game 'Green Hill Paradise: Act 2' Shows Sega How It's Done In 3D

Green-Hill-Paradise-Act-2Over the years Sonic the Hedgehog has had a torrid time making the leap from a two dimensional world to 3D, so much so that fans have taken it upon themselves to make amends. One fan who goes by the name of Xaklse, created a 3D Sonic Games Development Kit which he's finally put to good use. Green Hill Paradise: Act 2 appears to be shaping up into an incredible game with plenty on offer, and an awful lot Sega could be taking notes from too.

While the game itself is very muh a tech demo at this point in time, it already brings to the table a stunning environment which is fully explorable by our favourite blue hedgehog. What makes it stand out in comparison to the likes of Sonic Adventure and Sonic Heroes is that it doesn't feel so linear, and the multiple routes and areas to explore from the 2D classics is back in style. As you'll see from the release trailer, Sonic is pretty much free to venture through the rolling green hills and interact with all kinds of scenery as he sees fit. As usual you can expect to see the familiar loops, rings, springs, ramps, half-pipes, corkscrews and countless secrets present too.

A downloadable demo of the game has been made available, which can be found in the release trailer's video description on YouTube.

I could lose myself in this one level for HOURS. I grabbed it before the Sega team shows up with a takedown request. Will try it soon. Thanks for the news bite!

This looks awesome, Sega needs to recognise all this fan talent out there and how it could really bring some new blood into their almost destroyed franchises! SEGA really could be great again if they get the right people working on their projects.

This looks awful. Textured polygons don't suit the hedgehog at all.
