Grand Theft Auto III 10th Anniversary Rerelease Arrives on Android and Apple iOS Devices

Grand-Theft-Auto-III-10th-Anniversary-Rerelease-Arrives-on-Android-and-Apple-iOS-DevicesTo think Grand Theft Auto III came out ten years ago is a somewhat worrying thought. The smash hit which revolutionised the 'Crime-em-up' genre by creating an immersive city of carnage and the ability to do just anything you please was a groundbreaking release. To celebrate this anniversary, Rockstar have rereleased Liberty City on iOS and Android.

Originally arriving on the PlayStation 2 in 2001, Grand Theft Auto III became one of the best selling releases for Sony's console. The transition from the 2D 1999 release of GTA2 into a fully fledged 3D hit wasn't the only reason for the game's runaway success. The combination of a in game map which took a good chunk of time to traverse from edge to edge and a no rules barred violence fest was a little too much to resist.

Making the most of this ten year anniversary, the game has been adapted for modern mobile phones, arriving on both the Apple App Store and the Android Market. While the game runs fantastically on the iPhone 4, we cannot recommend playing this iconic rerelease on the Sony Xperia Play enough, thanks to the optimised controls.
