Game Genie Guy: Patch ROMs With Your Favourite Cheats

Game-Genie-Guy-ReleasedGrowing up with plug-in cheat cartridges, one of the most frustrating aspects to hacking video games was the need to type in our desired codes each and every time. The slightest unforeseen mistaken would often send us back to square one, never mind ever so slightly knocking the fragile tower of game cartridges into a frozen glitch. This can now all become a frustration of the past thanks to some software known as Game Genie Guy.

This recently released tool for Windows allows you take back control of the classics by hard-coding Game Genie codes into game ROMs. What this means is that any cheat code you wish to apply can be permanently patched into the game's code, removing the need to ever manually input a cheat code again.

At the moment this fantastic little tool offers support for the Sega Master System, Game Gear, Mega Drive, Nintendo NES, Super Nintendo, Game Boy and TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine. By the looks of it there seems to be no limit as to how many codes you apply, something which was originally limited on Game Genie cartridges back in the day.

Where this gets even better though is that theoretically speaking, any ROM patched with Game Genie Guy should still work on the original hardware should you have a Everdrive-MD, Super Everdrive, or similar flash cartridge for the console of your choice. So should you want to give Super Mario Bros a new lick of paint, Sonic The Hedgehog an unneeded speed boost, or simply infinite lives to the Battletoads, then look no further and get cheating!

Take THAT you damn insanely difficult games you!

I am ready to exact my revenge on those games I could never beat as a kid (not that I ever grew up, but still..).

Ahw man, oh man, oh man...why do you do this to me?
It matters NOT!

Neat idea, but I'd much rather see a new "Game Genie" be made that acts more like the modern Game Sharks where the cheats are saved in the memory so you can plug your games in and select the requested cheats on the real hardware.
