Game Boy HDMI-Out Modification Kit 'hdmyboy' Hits Kickstarter

hdmyboy-hits-kickstarterBack in September a team of creative individuals revealed their on-going project to bring HDMI out to the Nintendo Game Boy. After garnering plenty of interest for their modification kit, the hdmyboy has finally hit Kickstarter for those wanting to play the handheld on the TV.

Originally dubbed the HDMIboy, this modification is set to do what the Super Game Boy did many years ago on the Super Nintendo, only this time round in high definition. Bringing the likes of Super Mario Land, Zelda: Link’s Awakening, and Pokemon to the big screen in 1080p, the hdmyboy is promising an easy install for retro gamers looking for a modern solution.

Starting at €115 for a do it yourself hdmyboy kit, and €350 for a pre-installed unit, the Netherlands based team behind the modification are currently seeking €65,000 via the fundraising campaign.

I think I'll pass... there's plenty of other ways for playing gameboy games on the big screen, and none are so... bulky...

It's very clever but honestly graphically it looks like total crap compared to what Retroarch can do, and the way it bulks out the Gameboy?!, hell no.

So this is very similar to what I used to have for my original GBA only in HDMI. Too bad they didn't just design it for GBA so that you could do GB, GBC, and GBA. Then again... if you buy a Retron 5 you can already do this.

Well, for this price I rather continue to use my Super GB. I doubt this gives you fancy borders
