Flash Cartridge Compatible 'Sin & Punishment' Nintendo 64 Fan Translation Patch Released

Sin-and-Punishment-English-TranslationDespite being a critically acclaimed on-rails shooter, the only way to play Sin & Punishment on the original hardware was via the desirable Japanese version - Tsumi to Batsu. Although playable despite being unreadable, very few of us have been able to naturally navigate the Nintendo 64 version's menu's and interface, at least until now...

A new fan translation patch for Sin & Punishment has just been released online, drawing the assets and hard work from the most unusual of places - the localised Nintendo Wii Virtual Console version. As this digital download offered the only official English translation out there, Zoinkity of the Assembler Games forums recently extracted all the necessary data from within and has applied it to the timeless Nintendo 64 version.

Some of you, however, may recall that Sin & Punishment had already been fan translated back in 2006 by ROM hacking group Vanit Studios. This prior patch is worth mentioning as their prior efforts, although fantastic (and compatible with HQ texture pack), have been limited to emulators, where as this new release will work on the original hardware via the likes of the Everdrive 64, a Nintendo 64 flash cartridge.

Sin & Punishment (Nintendo 64) Gameplay

As usual, to enjoy this fan translation patch you will need to have a clean Sin & Punishment ROM file to which you can apply this patch to. Full instructions on how to patch this ROM can be found within the download, or you can refer to this handy xDelta ROM patching guide on YouTube.

Anytime I've played the original cart, I never saw it to be an issue navigating through menus. Plus, the voice acting is all done in English so no problem there, either.
