First Handheld Sony PlayStation appears on Superufo

Handheld_Sony_Playstation_1Superufo is now stocking what appears to be the first handheld Sony PlayStation capable of playing PS1 games from a MicroSD card. While the description is vague and the photographs don’t do it justice, our fingers are crossed that this is the real deal.

Having appeared out of nowhere with little information regarding how it works, our guess is it contains an emulator capable of loading ISOs of PlayStation 1 games from the MicroSD card. Housed in a very similar casing to the Sony PSP, the PS One Handheld Game Player comes in a dark blue colour with a promisingly sized LCD screen.

As many devices around similar to this are only capable of playing Nintendo NES games, we remain unconvinced and slightly sceptical whether this handheld can really do what it says.

Here are the features listed and description from the product page:

  • Play PS1 Games
  • Support RM,RMVB,AVI,FLV Videos
  • HDMI Out
  • Support up to 32G MicroSD

Support PS1 games. With HDMI output, 4.3"TFT screen. Support Video,Audio,Voice record and e-book. Support up to32G micro SD

Priced at $77, it might be worth a gamble for fans of portable gaming and the Sony PlayStation. But until we know for sure what this device can do, we will hold back and await more news on the handheld.
