First Footage Of Upcoming Mega Drive Brawler 'ProjectY'

ProjectY-Mega-Drive-Homebrew-First-Video-FootageWatermelon Games may have been in the retro gaming news an awful lot as of late, but there's a good reason for that - they're keeping the scene alive with high quality brand new releases for our beloved systems. Since late 2012 the retro developers have been working on a spiritual successor to Streets of Rage known as ProjectY. With only a few screenshots leaving the studio in several years, Mega Drive gamers will pleased to know that an incredible looking teaser video has arrived showcasing the game in action.

While it may only feature a few short sections of the game, there's more than enough on offer here to get 16-bit fans excited. Sporting lusciously large sprites, detailed visuals, and the beat-em-up fun we all know and love, ProjectY is shaping up to be one homebrew release you don't want to miss. Judging by what's shown in the video, Watermelon Games have applied everything they learned during the development of Pier Solar to this on-going project, further proving their ability to push the Mega Drive to new limits in 2015.

With a release date yet to be set, be sure to keep a close eye on this upcoming brawler and any other teasers the developers ma release. Needless to say, ProjectY is going to hit hard and make an impact on the homebrew scene for years to come.

Quoting k1ngarth3r:

Question is why not? There are lot of potential missed sales from not making a digital release. I don't really see the point of buying another cart when I have one that can run the ROM anyway.

I found a digital download of Pier on some website, so I'll just wait for it to appear in the usual places then. :-*
