Fire Emblem (Nintendo Famicom) receives a Fan Translation

Fan-Translation-Fire-Emblem-Nintendo-FamicomFans of the Fire Emblem series which first arrived in Europe on the Game Boy Advance may want to revert their eyes back towards the Nintendo NES. One fan translation group has taken hold of the first game in the series and finally translated it to English.

Having arrived on the Nintendo Famicom back in 1990, the game was never localised nor were the other first six games in the series. Despite holding such addictive tactical gameplay, the rest of the world had to wait until 2003 before Fire Emblem arrived on the Game Boy Advance worldwide.

Most of the English releases of the Fire Emblem games saw a rather small print runs, which now hold an incredibly high demand. Often fetching prices similar to what they retailed for originally, this is more than enough proof that the series is a rather well loved one outside of Japan.

In 2008 Nintendo revisited the first game in the series and gave it a complete revival for the Nintendo DS. Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon was a the remake of the original Nintendo Famicom game finally allowing gamers worldwide to catch up on the classic from 18 years previous. However the purists amongst us will have been holding out for fans to translate the 8-bit version to finally experience what Japanese gamers loved all those years ago. brings us one of the latest projects to be hosted on their site which is a full translation of the original game. Simply apply the downloadable patch to your (legally dumped) ROM file and away you go.
