Final Fantasy VII & Other PlayStation 1 Classics In Action On The PSIO SD Card ISO Loader

PSIO-Final-Fantasy-VIIIf you've been following our news feed closely this year you'll be familiar with the in-development PlayStation 1 hardware add-on, the PSIO, eagerly anticipating it's upcoming release. After a short break of silence, further videos have begun surfacing on YouTube showcasing titles such as Final Fantasy VII working flawlessly without a disc in sight.

To get everyone else up to speed, the PSIO is an adapter which plugs into the back of the original PlayStation 1 console which allows the loading of games directly from SD cards. It's yet to be made available to the general public and go on general sale, however, in the last few months prototype units of the PSIO have been sent to several testers who have begun sharing their efforts.

The most recent videos which have begun to surface of the PSIO in action have originated from a retro gaming enthusiast known as RetroJunkie in the community. The Australian's YouTube channel has begun filling up with videos of the PSIO demonstrating various games and how they run, ranging from Tekken 3 to Dance Dance Revolution. Furthermore, RetroJunkie has also been documenting his efforts on the AssemblerGames forums discussing how various games perform before uploading videos of the gameplay - with both Chrono Trigger and Resident Evil confirmed as working.

But enough from us. Be prepared to be amazed as the first section of Final Fantasy VII is enjoyed on the original hardware effortlessly without any physical software to be seen.

Where can I get one?
How much will it cost?
When will it be released?
Will it play Metal Gear?
Ohhh so many questions need to be answered :P

As an owner of two original PS1s, both with dead lasers, I do want this if it's not phenomenally expensive.
