If Fifa 17 has left you feeling more deflated than England’s performance against Iceland, it might just be time to return to the golden era of the beautiful game. While the likes of Shearer, Gascoigne and Seaman might be missing today, fans of Sensible World of Soccer can once again relive their youth with an all new data pack for the ‘16/17 season.
Believe it or not but both the Commodore Amiga and PC versions of the game have both been brought up to date with the latest squads from this season. This sees teams such as the mighty Leeds United fielding the likes of Chris Wood and Pablo Hernandez, while the likes of Manchester United can be seen sporting pixelated versions of Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
What makes this update even more impressive is that instead of just simply renaming the game’s existing squads to be in line with the new rosters, each and every player out there has been given their very own skill ratings to reflect their true ability. This means that those wanting to take on career mode will need to shell out big for Aguero and the other Premiership stars, whilst those looking to play competitively will need to seek out a new team that matches their playing style.
If this wasn’t enough already, the website behind this update - SensibleSoccer.de - have released both a Commodore Amiga and PC version of the updated game for free online. Amiga owners will be able to install the game on their hard drives via a .LHA archive, whilst PC players can look towards the enhanced online multiplayer features which are now available.
Needless to say, with just a few days let of the international break, this might just be the perfect time to dig out a joystick and once again become that goal scoring superstar hero.
