In 1995 Namco made a triumphant entry to the overcrowded RPG genre with Tales of Phantasia. Their Super Famicom title became an instant classic and soon saw several remakes and rereleases - with the PlayStation 1 update of Cress Albane's adventure recently translated into English by ROM hackers.
Western gamers hoping to get in on the Tales of Phantasia action had to wait a whole nine years before they could sample the unique side scrolling take on the RPG battle system. The hard to find Game Boy Advance update of the RPG was released in North America and Europe in 2006, however, the far superior PlayStation 1 remake and the later Sony PSP port remain import exclusives.
If for whatever reason you're yet to sample Namco's fantastic and enticing RPG adventure, there has never been a better time to do so. A fan made effort to translate the game from start to finish has just been finished by talented ROM hackers, ones who have kindly been busy on this project for over a decade.
