Fan Mod 'Brutal Doom' Ups The Gore In Id Software's Classic FPS

Brutal-Doom-Modification-v20-ReleasedDoom may be well over two decades old now, but that doesn't mean the fun's over - if anything it's just getting started. Brutal Doom is a fan made modification to the game which brings the violence filled planet to life with better 3D visuals, added gore and over the top action.

In development since 2010, Brutal Doom takes the barebones engine that Id Software created all those years ago and adds in just about every feature Romero and Carmack probably wanted to, but couldn't. This includes unique gibs, death animations, dismemberments, headshots, executions, fire and explosion particles, flares, shadows over all objects, and much more.

While the core gameplay may be dated (although timeless), this new enhancement pretty much revitalises Doom and provides what feels like and all new experience. Needless to say this is a must try modification to Doom, one whereby the level of gore and action described here cannot be done justice in words.
