While the Neo Geo AES may not be known for its selection of accessories, schematics for a Neo Geo Steering Wheel were distributed behind the scenes - but sadly the accessory never materialised. Fast forward to today and an ex-SNK employee has released the original rejected plans, allowing those interested to build their own driving accessory.
According to the ex-SNK employee, the Neo Geo Steering Wheel (with accompanying pedals) was intended to be used with the likes of Thrash Rally to bring a more authentic feel to the arcade racer. Despite being shown at various trade shows the steering wheel accessory didn't warrant enough attention to justify manufacture.
The released schematic is a confusing sight for those (including ourselves) not familiar with electrical diagrams, however, they hold plenty of promise for the various talented console modifiers within the retro gaming scene. The ex-SNK employee has stated that anyone is free to build their own, before going on to state that anyone interested in mass production should get in touch first.
