Ex-SNK Employee Releases Cancelled Plans To Create A Neo Geo AES Steering Wheel

Ex-SNK-Employee-Releases-Cancelled-Plans-To-Create-A-Neo-Geo-AES-Steering-WheelWhile the Neo Geo AES may not be known for its selection of accessories, schematics for a Neo Geo Steering Wheel were distributed behind the scenes - but sadly the accessory never materialised. Fast forward to today and an ex-SNK employee has released the original rejected plans, allowing those interested to build their own driving accessory.

According to the ex-SNK employee, the Neo Geo Steering Wheel (with accompanying pedals) was intended to be used with the likes of Thrash Rally to bring a more authentic feel to the arcade racer. Despite being shown at various trade shows the steering wheel accessory didn't warrant enough attention to justify manufacture.

The released schematic is a confusing sight for those (including ourselves) not familiar with electrical diagrams, however, they hold plenty of promise for the various talented console modifiers within the retro gaming scene. The ex-SNK employee has stated that anyone is free to build their own, before going on to state that anyone interested in mass production should get in touch first.

Exciting stuff! After reading the posts it seems some are willing to make a version.

Sounds good - But isn't there only 2 games that would be compatible with this?

It certainly would be good to see some new games being developed (Homebrew) that would use this controller..

Looks awesome, but being a simracer and a sim racing commentator I'm pretty sure that the wheel in the screenshot is a Fanatec 911 GT2 wheel with a different faceplate. Arguably one of the best wheels on the market for the price so if someone could release this with a NEO GEO port and add some custom faceplates it would be incredible!
