Enhanced Port Of 'Steel Empire' Heading To Nintendo 3DS

Steel-Empire-Heading-To-3DSIf steampunk shooters are your thing, then look no further. The fantastic Sega Mega Drive (and later Game Boy Advance) horizontal shmup Steel Empire is being given the three-dimensional treatment for its upcoming port to the Nintendo 3DS.

This updated offering of the 1992 scrolling shooter is currently under way with developer Mebius Games, with publisher Starfish SD hoping to release the game next week in Japan. Going by the recently released gameplay trailer, Steel Empire 3DS seems to keep everything we know and love about the original, only adding in more depth to the visuals, 3D effects and double screen functionality.

While it is yet to be known whether or not the title will fly out of Japan and onto our Western 3DS handhelds is yet to be known. Nevertheless, feast your eyes on yet another retro-conversion done right:
