Cult Classic Earthworm Jim TV Series Out Now On DVD In Australia

Earthworm jimThe crazy, humours, forth-wall destroying animated TV series that is Earthwrom Jim, based, of course, upon the best selling 16-bit era video games from Shiny Entertainment has been released on DVD in Australia for the affordable sum of $27.98AU.

For those who may not have seen it, the Earthworm Jim TV series retained the surreal humour of the video games as well as adding a good helping of post-modernist and fourth-wall breaking shenanigans. Featuring all the famous characters from the games such as Psy-Crow, Evil the Cat, Princess Whatshername and that famous flying cow, the series is a great piece of retro gameing history and something any Jim fan would love to have in their collection.

Madman Entertainment hs bought the right to release the show on DVD in Australia which means you won't find this set anywhere else in the world. However, it's easily attained by international fans via many of Australia's on-line DVD retailers (see the links below the video).

So, if your a fan of Earthworm Jim and missed the cartoon the first time around, or would just like to revisit the wackyness of it all, then it's well worth checking out this DVD set.

*sighs*

I guess I'll have to order this one from across the world, huh?

Madman is an Australian company. Most of their business is releasing anime here in Australia although they have gone into other areas such as foreign films that otherwise would never have seen release here. They do a damn good job but, as a small company when compared to Sony or Paramount they stick to the local market.

First Invader Zim, then this.

Hoping this gets a UK release soon. Was living in OZ last year, shame they didn't bring this out when I was there.

Madman have put out some brilliant DVDs - I have Allegro Non Troppo and the Osamu Tezuka collections from them, and they're some of the best-produced DVDs I own. This'll probably be better than that torrent of Earthworm Jim I downloaded (Hmm!).

And fear not, non-Australians: As long as your DVD player isn't a Sony or Panasonic model, you can just put the player's serial number into Google, and you'll find a way to make your machine region-free. Even the £10 DVD player I got at Asda is region-free!
