The Pie Factory level in Donkey Kong the Nintendo NES version first came to light when the Super Mario All-Stars package for the Nintendo Wii was released in Europe late last year. Instead of including a port or emulated version of Donkey Kong arcade, an updated Nintendo NES version was included featuring the missing level.
Original Donkey Kong
Many NES fans began to wonder why they were never given the level in the first place, especially if the updated version was (possibly) available all this time. RetroUSB decided to put together an updated version of the Nintendo NES classic featuring the new level onto one of their desirable reproduction cartridges, which can now be purchased from their website.
Here is a quick clip of the missing level in action:
The Original Donkey Kong reproduction comes on a classic grey cartridge, one which will has been confirmed to work on a Nintendo NES from any region.
Dragon Scroll: Resurrection of the Demon Dragon
The other addition to the RetroUSB reproduction store is a translated version of the Japanese exclusive Nintendo Famicom title; Dragon Scroll. Released by Konami in 1987, Dragon Scroll is a top down adventure game in which you must put the recently awoken chrome dragon back to sleep, by recovering the 8 stolen magic sealing books.
Here is a gameplay video of the Japanese version of Dragon Scroll, just in case you're tempted to splash out on the reproduction cartridge.
This reproduction game comes in a translucent red cartridge featuring a full colour printed label, one which will work on any region Nintendo NES.
