db Electronics Set To Release TurboGrafx-16 & PC Engine RGB Video Expansion Board

db-Grafx-Booster-TTPAs amazing as the TurboGrafx 16 and PC Engine are, the video out ports on the reverse of both iterations of the console are somewhat lacking. While there are modifications and official expansions to address this, they’re anything but ideal. db Electronics, however, is about to address all these issues with their newly announced db Grafx Booster TTP.

This custom built board - also known as the Twin Turbo Power Audio Video Enhancer for Pc Engine & TurboGrafx - simply slots into the expansion bay of either console, introducing two new video out ports for a much cleaner image. For the majority of gamers, the familiar red, white, and yellow RCA connectors can be used for a composite signal, while the pixel perfect aficionados can look forward to RGB out on NEC’s console - using the same connector as a Mega Drive 2.

While similar to the Turbo Booster, the db Grafx Booster TTP doesn’t offer the save memory features that the official add-on brings. Nevertheless the ability to experience NEC’s back catalogue in true RGB without any modifications to the console will be worth the investment alone.

No price has been set for the db Grafx Booster TTP as of yet, although it is expected to be released mid-November.

And sadly is not compatible with the Turbo Duo or Duo R models because of the lack of an expansion port on those consoles, but a hassle free way to obtain RGB from earlier PC Engine models can only be a good thing as long as the pricing is right.
