Commodore 64x - Linux based PC in a C64 case now on sale

Commodore-64-Hybrid-PC-Now-On-SaleCommodore USA who recently secured the licensing rights to the Commodore 64 and Amiga brands have just released a rather familiar looking computer. Their well priced Commodore 64x is a PC inside the classic brown 80's Commodore 64 shell.

Fans of the vintage computer will be rather pleased to see a fully functional and modern PC hidden within the well disguised shell. Running on a Dual-core Intel Atom D525 1.8GHz CPU housed on a mini-ITX motherboard with Nvidia Ion 2 graphics card, 2GB of RAM and an optional Blu-Ray optical drive, this well disquised computer could even be considered as a purchase to replace your current home setup.

The Commodore 64x is set to be shipped with the Commodore OS, a linux based operating system geared up to mimic similar features to the original computer from 1982. Set to allow emulation of various past Commodore systems such as the Amiga, this retro gamer friendly PC will be the perfect device for those wanting to get nostalgic while maintaining a desktop setup for doing 'work'.

Should the device interest you, it can be ordered from Commodore USA's site for $595. But should you need a bit of encouragement here is a commercial for the original Commodore 64, one we hope they mimic for their own upcoming advertising campaign.
