Commodore 64 RPG Classic 'Ultima IV: Quest Of The Avatar' Ported To Apple iOS Devices

Ultima-IV-Apple-iOS-PortBy 1985 Ultima had already become a well established entry in the RPG gaming world, with the fourth title in the series hitting the shelves. Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar arrived on countless systems around the world including the Commodore 64, and as of today, 28 years later, it has just been ported to Apple iOS devices.

This rehashing of this 8-bit RPG which first saw release on the Apple ][ has just been released by Elite Systems, the same publisher behind the recent supply of ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64 titles hitting touchscreen devices.

While the gameplay appears to remain intact and exactly as we remember, new intuitive systems and interfaces have been implemented to jump over the lack of physical controls. The other new introduction is the inclusion of digital versions of the various printed materials which came with the original game - such as the Player Reference Card, History of Britannia, Book of Mystic Wisdom and the Ultima IV Map of Britannia.

Much to our surprise this timeless quest has been released on to the Apple App Store for free. So be sure to revisit this memorable adventure and let us know whether or not the touchscreen does it justice.
