Coin-Op Hit Donkey Kong Ported To The 16-Bit Super Nintendo In Classic Kong

Coin-Op-Hit-Donkey-Kong-Ported-To-The-16-Bit-Super-Nintendo-In-KongBy the time the Super Nintendo had arrived, Donkey Kong was too busy roaming the jungles for his missing banana hoard to even consider kidnapping the Princess. This unfortunately left his initial arcade outing behind without a 16-bit port of the coin-op in sight, at least until 2012.  Step forward, Classic Kong!

Bubble Zap Games, who are better known for their Android Super Nintendo emulators, have released their homebrew port of Donkey Kong online for free. Classic Kong as it's known is a faithful recreation of the original game, gifting the 1981 arcade machine revamped graphics and audio. The lead developer of Classic Kong is none other than Shiru, the hardworking homebrew developer behind the likes of Zooming Secretary.

Be sure to check out this new homebrew Super Nintendo release which can be downloaded below.

Awesome! And even more awesome that they've released the source code! Let's hope this kick-starts more homebrew effort on the SNES!
