Chiptune Album ‘8Bit Music Power’ Set For Release On Nintendo Famicom Cartridge

8BIT-MUSIC-POWEROne of the greatest aspects to the classic hardware we are so familiar with today is often their unique sound output. Countless musicians have found fame through the all new genre of ‘chiptune’ which finds composers using old consoles or handhelds to produce their tracks. Instead of just providing these as downloadable MP3s, one label has decided to release their latest collection on a Nintendo Famicom cartridge.

The newly announced 8BIT MUSIC POWER is the creation of Japanese homebrew developer RIKI who also released the impressive 8-bit adventure Kira Kira Star Night. Featuring eleven different artists such as Hiroaki Sano, Nobuyiki Shioda, and Hally, this compilation on a cartridge offers so much more than just a playlist. Arriving packaged like a traditional Famicom release, this chiptune album also offers some fantastic on-screen visuals and equalisers to accompany the music - as well as live updates on which notes are being played on each channel at any time.

As great as this looks, it appears to be having an exclusive release through Amazon Japan on January 31st 2016. Priced up at ¥4,104 8BIT MUSIC POWER can be pre-ordered right now, however, you may need a Japanese address to have it posted to.
