Commodore 64 USB Adapter 'Cassiopei' Loads TAP & PRG Games Into Memory Without Cassette Tapes

Cassiopei-Commodore-64-AdapterAlthough there are plenty of readily available solutions to enjoying Commodore 64 games without waiting for tapes to load, another alternative is due to be released next month. The Cassiopei is a small device which plugs into the C64's cassetteport, allowing all your favourites to be loaded into memory up to 50 times faster.

This all new device, however, is not limited to the Commodore 64. The Cassiopei can connect to many of Commodore's 8-bit computers, ranging from the PET series to the C128, bringing each and everyone of these systems new functionality.

With cassette tapes being a rather primitive and dated method of enjoying classic computer games, the Cassiopei instead offers a menu driven system from which it can boot up .PRG files or .TAP files from its 8mb of internal flash memory. The selection of games and programs to be run is your choice, as the device features a USB port for flashing whatever your heart desires. That's not all that's on offer through this USB port though - this connectivity is further utilised by allowing you to stream games from your home computer directly to the Cassiopei.

The Cassiopei is due to be released nexth month at the HCC Commodore gebruikergroep in Maarssen, and will hopefully be on sale shortly after.
