It has only taken three months since it was released in Japan, but Mega Man's original Nintendo NES outing is finally being put onto the Nintendo 3DS eShop Virtual Console in the US and Europe. Grab your Mega Buster and get ready to go after Dr Wily!
Although the next two entries in the MM series are generally considered to be the superior titles, the original helped lay the foundations for the multitude sequels and spin offs to come. If you don't know (but I imagine you do) Mega Man is a 2D platformer/shooter - with a steep yet satisfying difficulty curve and an innovative (at the time of the game's release 25 years ago at least) level select where you can play the title's six stages in any order you wish.
Developed by Capcom, Mega Man still holds up admirably today and is well worth investigating if you somehow haven't already played this 8-bit classic. The game will cost £4.49 to download in the UK and $4.99 in the US.

I think the complexity of remaking some titles in 3D is what is holding them back from being made. Stuff like Excitebike is a fairly simple game, however, games like Mega Man and Castlevania would be on par with the likes of a DSiWare title in terms of work required.
