Capcom's Arcade Classic 'Ghosts'n Goblins' Gets Unofficial Remake For Commodore 64

Ghosts-n-Goblins-Arcade-Commodore-64-ReleaseBack in the day gamers always found themselves unsure on whether or not they should be buying a home conversions of arcade machines for 8-bit computers. Although promising as much action as their respective coin-ops, some of these offerings were sloppy conversions either lacking key features or similarities to their source. One of the more notable titles which falls into this category is Ghosts'n Goblins for the Commodore 64 - a title which homebrew developers have taken it upon themselves to revitalised through and all new conversion, Ghosts'n Goblins Arcade.

Having already given Commando the exact same treatment, Commodore 64 scene group Nostalgia are back with what appears to be the most impressive homebrew release of the year. Knowing full well Capcom's home conversion of the game published by Elite lacks some of the key levels from the coin-op, this group of homebrew developers have not only reintroduced what's missing, but also added a lot more. Now joining Sir Arthur on his incredibly difficult journey are new visuals, updated audio, additional enemies, added animations, and levels that are supposedly twice as long as the ones in the original port.

What makes this revamped classic even better is that it has been released online as a free download. Arriving in a .D64 format (Commodore 64 disk), those who happen to have the SD2IEC adapter will be able to drop Ghosts'n Goblins Arcade onto a memory card and play this game on the original hardware. Anyone else wanting to experience what's new in this port will be pleased to know it also runs great in an emulator.

That's a bit harsh... C64 Ghosts 'n Goblins wasn't that bad. Obviously not as good as it could have been mind...
