Cannonball - An Enhanced Engine For The Classic Arcade Racer OutRun

Cannonball-An-Enhanced-Engine-For-The-Arcade-Racer-OutRunAlthough we all know and love the timeless arcade racer OutRun, one fan of the coin-op has decided there was room for improvement. After a lot of reverse engineering and coding, Cannonball has been released, an enhanced rewrite of the original game offering a more fluid experience in 60fps.

While you could argue that the game in its original form is hardly worthy of an update, just seeing this interpreter run Yu Suzuki's pixel perfect 1986 classic at a flawless 60fps will have you silenced. The greatest part about this rewrite, however, is that the source code has been released, allowing anyone to port the software over to other devices too.

Cannonball is not an emulator per se, however, it does rely on the original ROM files to run - all of the known MAME ROMs will need to be provided to the software in the specified folder. Further information can be found at the official Cannonball homepage below.
