Endless Runner Canabalt Ported To Atari 2600 In JumpVCS

JumpVCSArriving back in 2009, the endless 2D runner Canabalt quickly became one of the most popular flash games online, which it still is to date. Needless to say the title soon made its way onto a series of different platforms, including unofficial offerings on the Commodore 64. The latest retro console to get in on the rooftop-running-action though is the Atari 2600 with the all new homebrew release, JumpVCS.

With very little power residing in the Atari 2600, homebrew heroes Retro Reload have somehow managed to faithfully recreate the popular browser-based game on the primitive gaming hardware. While the graphics have obviously been adapted slightly, the gameplay remains somewhat intact and exactly as you'd expect such a title to play out on the 2600.

This homebrew release has been made available to download from free from the official Retro Reload website, with physical cartridge versions supposedly in the works.
