British Gaming Powerhouse 'Gremlin Graphics' Set For Historical Book 'A Gremlin In The Works'

A-Gremlin-in-the-Works-AnnouncedGrowing up in the United Kingdom in the early 80s was nothing short a of a dream. Software powerhouses were popping up everywhere and the ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64 and Amstrad CPC gaming boom was born. Out of this era rose an iconic studio which created countless classics, Gremlin Graphics.

Rising up from the depths of a British recession in 1983, Ian Stewart and Kevin Norburn formed their development studio in the heart of Sheffield on Carver Street. Although now defunct, Gremlin enjoyed a healthy 15 years in the industry developing hits such as Wanted: Monty Mole, Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge, Impossamole, and of course, Zool.

With such a colourful past and plenty of stories to share, it would appear that Gremlin are the next in line to receive a book documenting their heritage. Mark James Hardisty of Games Britannia - an education event set up to inspire the next generation of games developers - has begun work on 'A Gremlin in the Works', a full-colour immortalisation of the company, due for release in Summer 2015.

Expected to feature interviews with key-figures and anecdotes from important developers, A Gremlin in the Works is already shaping up to become a must-have read of next year. Furthermore, it would appear that Hardisty has somehow gained access to Ian Stewart's loft, as plenty of never-before-seen archive material, screenshots and photographs seem destined to make the books pages too.
