Brand New JAMMA Arcade Shmup 'SkyCurser' In Development

SkyCurser-New-JAMMA-Game-In-DevelopmentIn all our time writing about homebrew projects and brand new video games for older systems, we've never come across one solely created for arcade machines using the JAMMA standard. The newly announced SkyCurser fits this bill exactly, a horizontal scrolling shooter drawing inspiration from both Metal Slug and Splatterhouse.

Specially designed for traditional arcade cabinets running at a 320x240 resolution, SkyCurser's stunning visuals and handcrafted sprite art very much leaves us wondering if this is a title from yesteryear. Unlike your standard space shooters, SkyCurser instead has you blasting down plague ridden mutations and flying monstrous beings, all with plenty of pixelated gore for the taking.

If the action doesn't sound juicy enough already, the other aspects of SkyCurser will no doubt have you eager to grab the joystick. Not only is the game set to feature an arcade-esque soundtrack to accompany your every move, but it also has its very own custom designed arcade cabinet too.

While a release date is yet to be set for the upcoming game, along with details on how to get hold of the arcade board yourself, stay tuned as we await the landing of what appears to be a very promising homebrew project.
