Bitmap Books Return To Kickstarter With 'ZX Spectrum: A Visual Compendium' Book

ZX-Spectrum-A-Visual-Compendium-KickstarterFollowing on from two very successful Kickstarter projects, the team behind Bitmap Books are back and gearing up yet another retro gaming fundraiser. Having already covered both the Commodore 64 and Amiga at great length through detailed screenshots, mini reviews, and exclusive interviews, it would appear another classic home computer is due the works. The newly announced ZX Spectrum: A Visual Compendium book is due to arrive on Kickstarter tomorrow, all with the aim of gifting the 8-bit juggernaut a high quality celebration of its colourful past.

Focusing more on the graphical and pixel art side of things, the previous work of Bitmap Books has stepped away from the standard historical retelling of our gaming past. Featuring countless pages packed to the brim with a selection of screenshots and stunning sprites, it would appear that the ZX Spectrum: A Visual Compendium is also set to follow in the footsteps of its predecessors.

Looking over the newly launched teaser video to promote the upcoming Kickstarter, Bitmap Books seem ready to showcase the ZX Spectrum in style. Not only promising the aforementioned features, the ZX Spectrum: A Visual Compendium will also include an array of game maps, stunning photography of the rubber keyed system, and even a foreword from gaming veteran Ste Pickford.

Although the campaign is yet to launch, the teaser video has already given a glimpse of the various perks that will soon be made available. More generous pledges to the campaign will see the arrival of signed posters, homebrew ZX Spectrum games, remixed soundtracks, and even a hardback version of the book.
